Cartographer, Jim Todd, was born and raised
in Nova Scotia. Jim grew up in the rural culture
of canoeing, camping, and love of the outdoors. He is a licensed guide,
and volunteers his time and technical skills for the Tobeatic Wilderness
Committee in their ongoing efforts to protect that unique NS wilderness
area.
For many years, he was nationally syndicated political cartoonist with Southam News Syndicate, Ottawa. His work has appeared in most major Canadian daily newspapers, including the Montreal Gazette, the Globe and Mail, the Ottawa Citizen, and the Vancouver Sun. Under TODD Graphic, he works as a graphic designer and cartographer, and occasionally teaches in the Geomatics Department of the Centre of Geographic Sciences. He enjoys "back country" canoeing and no-trace camping, preferring to explore the less traveled, wilder areas of the province while they still exist. Though the St. Lawrence River is a radically different paddling experience from that of backwoods Nova Scotia, Jim shares the spirit of paddling with those who will use Paddle 1000 Islands resources to enjoy this national recreational treasure, and he was very pleased to be able to contribute to this exciting and valuable project. |
